Twitter said Tuesday, March 11, that its service was down for users on desktop and mobile apps. According to the micro blogging site, the outage appears to be affecting the service across mobile and Twitter’s website. The company said on its status blog shortly before 11:30 AM PT that they were looking into it.
According to a blog Twitter update, during a planned deploy in one of their core services, they experienced unexpected complications that made Twitter unavailable for many users starting at 11:01am. The social site further added that they rolled back the change as soon as they identified the issue and began a controlled recovery to ensure stability of other parts of the service.
Error on Recovery?
Twitter was fully recovered by 11:47am PDT. Some users, however, were still being shown error messages when they tried to access the site. The problem would have affected a large portion of the site’s 200 global users.
The outage comes after the rival social networking service WhatsApp went down for over three hours.
