As a WFAA TV anchor for more than 30 years, Gloria Campos has affected many lives. During her final week on the job, a touching moment happened on live TV, as one of those people who she helped surprised her and gave thanks.
The Adopted Son
Ke’onte Cook is a 14-year-old boy who was featured in a weekly segment called “Wednesday’s Child.” Campos aims to help children up for adoption to find loving homes through this show. After a failed adoption, Campos reconnected with Ke’onte. This time around,Carol and Scott Cook saw him on TV.
They told WFAA TV, “He just spoke to us through the video. It just seemed like he was talking to us.”
Last March 12, WFAA revisited the highlights of Campos’ career. After airing Ke’onte’s story, the 14-year-old walked through the set and surprised the TV anchor.
Ke’onte told Campos at the end of WFAA’s story, “Thank you so much because you’ve made my life worthwhile. You’ve helped me become the person I am right now, and I probably would have been worse off had you not helped me out.”
